A VELVET NIGHT


A velvet night with diamond stars
A full moon on the wane,
Tears on my cheeks - pain in my heart ~
A soft and misty rain.

I shivered in the darkness
As I waited there for you.
Not sure if you would come to me
Not knowing what to do.

I waited in the darkness
And watched the clouds drift by.
A promise to gather stars for me
And now I was left to cry.

The hours passed,the night moved on
Dawn was drawing nigh,
The moonbeams danced across the field,
As I wept and wondered why.

A crunch of leaves and I turned at last
As I heard your soft foot fall,
Your promise kept, you gave to me
The greatest gift of all.
